Mayor's Message

SNOW, SNOW GO AWAY:

I think we all have had enough of the “fluffy white stuff” for this year.

Many thanks once again to our Department of Public Works for a job well done, having one storm on top of another was rough on everyone and I must say very expensive also! As of this writing (mid-February) the cost for 2010 is estimated at $35,000 so far, with the possibility of another storm on the way next week. Further thanks to you to our residents for their patience and cooperation during this period of time with the interruption in garbage and recycling collection in some zones of the Borough.

Although it is not mandatory for residents to clear sidewalks of snow it would be most helpful if our scouts and younger people volunteered to pitch in and clear the sidewalks for the safety of our walkers. It would be most appreciated and a good way to earn Community Service points for resumes and or scout badges.

REMINDER:

Don’t forget it is mandatory for businesses to keep their sidewalks clean at all times!

CENSUS 2010:

The US Census Bureau is now conducting on going field operations and will be driving in and around our community as part of the 2010 Decennial Census. This operation will continue until September 2010.

The Census Bureau personnel will be driving their personal vehicles identified with large placard sings in the front and rear windows identifying as being operated by a Census Bureau person on “Official Business”. All personnel are required to be wearing and will be wearing an official identification card while working for the Census Bureau to identify them to the public as official Census Bureau Personnel.

If you have any questions, please do no hesitate to call the United States Census Bureau, Freehold Office at 732-333-9680.

BOROUGH NOTIFICATION: Service for computer owners for emergency messages. (This does not replace the Borough’s Reverse 911).

Residents wishing to receive trusted neighborhood-level public safety and community information via text message, email and web should register by going to www.nixle.com. It’s free and easy and I encourage all residents to take advantage of this technology to stay informed.

Please feel free to contact me at any time.

I can be reached at Borough Hal1, 732-842-2400 ext. #119, Home 732-741-8857, or Castleman@littlesilver.org

 Most sincerely,
