Phone scam alert
Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office reports people receiving phone calls from scammers posing as JCP&L employees. The calls threaten to shut off power at a residence or business unless direct payment is made using a pre-paid debit card. The call can look very convincing, with the CallerID being spoofed to indicate it is coming from a JCP&L phone number. The JCP&L phone scam is just one of many scams, such as a similar IRS scam and countless other ploys. Anyone who suspects they have received a scam call should contact the Police Department.

Backup generators can provide an emergency power supply, helping to keep important equipment running during a power outage. It’s important to make sure generators are properly installed and operated to prevent health and safety risks. Before installing a backup generator, follow all instructions in the manufacturer's written documentation, such as an operating manual, and all local building codes, especially regarding placement of the unit and safe electrical connections (check for local regulations by clicking “Planning and Zoning” on the top menu bar of this site).
Register for Electric Service Interruptions Updates
JCP&L customers who use electrically operated life support equipment or depend on private well water can register for updates on potential interruptions to their electric service, such as weather-related outages during the summer storm season.
