Traffic Advisory:  Thursday, April 16, 2015
The Monmouth County Highway Department
will begin paving Rumson Road in Rumson.
Work will be done at night, between the hours of
6:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m., weather permitting.
Rumson Road will be closed at Hance Road, heading east into Rumson.

  • There is no paving scheduled again until Monday night, April 20, 2015.  Depending on how far they advanced with the paving on Thursday, Rumson Road will be closed from Hance Road, west towards Branch Avenue in Little Silver. The project is expected (weather permitting) to be completed Tuesday night (6 p.m. – 6 a.m.).
  • Please plan ahead and follow detour signs.  Do not go around barricades - “local traffic only” refers to traffic requiring access to a destination in the closed section of the roadway, not through traffic.
  • Once the roadway has been prepped and paved, no traffic will be permitted to drive on that section until the pavement has set up, which could take several hours.
  •  Residents of Rumson Road will need to find alternate parking, should you need your vehicle during the paving. Again, the paving is not expected to start in Little Silver until Monday night, April 20.   The roadway is expected to reopen at the completion of each shift (6pm -6am), unless they run into unexpected problems.
  •  Whenever possible, we will attempt to put out updates as we get them from the Monmouth County Highway Department.

NJ Natural Gas: April is National Dig Safe Month
Excavator damage to underground utilities continues to be the leading cause of pipeline failures and jeopardizes the safety of the community and residents. This damage can be caused by a homeowner, contractor or excavator. Remember to call 8-1-1 (three days before, but not more than 10), to have underground facilities marked out prior to excavating.
