Little Silver Green Challenge
Little Silver is joining a certification program for municipalities in New Jersey that want to go green, save money and take steps to sustain their quality of life over the long term. We are creating a Green Team that will guide us in the process and we are encouraging all residents to participate by becoming more energy efficient, reduce your carbon footprint, help us develop sustainable land use and water conservation practices and save money in the process.
Explore the real meaning of sustainability and see how your lifestyle choice can have a huge impact on Earth. We will be asking you to join the Green Challenge in the future.
Here are a few easy steps to start:
-
set the thermostat down in the winter and up in the summer two or more degrees
-
eat locally produced food.
-
use less meat products
-
drive your car less -- walk, bike, carpool, use mass transit, shop locally
-
replace old fashioned light bulbs with CFL’s (compact fluorescent lights)
-
turn off lights in unoccupied rooms
-
drink tap water instead of bottled water
